The Mathematical Model of Iron Blast Furnace :
The iron blast furnace is a giant and tremendously
expensive furnace to produce hot metal from iron ore. Mathematical model-based
prediction and control of its inner circumstances are very important not only
for its stable operation but also for remarkable reduction of energy consumption
as well as carbon dioxide to be emitted from the furnace. The targets of the
model involve non-uniform flows of gas, solid, liquid and powders, complicated
heterogeneous reactions, and profiles of concentration and temperature which
widely ranges from the room temperature to a high temperature up to 2500 K. Some
mathematical models so far developed by us are being processed on on-line
computers of steel industries. More sophisticated functions are being developed
and implemented to the models.
